A Review of Newspapers Alive: Inside the Member’s Area

Over the years, I have tried countless different lead generation systems in hopes of boosting my home business, and I must say that it has been something of a hit and miss journey. With the programs that failed, part of the problem was down to me believing in the hype, while other times it had to do with relying a little too heavily on reviews that were, in hindsight, lacking in detail. I have recently started using a program called Newspapers Alive, and I am delighted with how things have been going right from the start. I started this review with the idea of posting my numbers and telling you how wonderful life is, but I realized that this would be everything I hate about online reviews. With that in mind, I have decided to pull back the curtain and take you inside the member’s area of NPA, just to give you an idea of what you are in for should you decide to sign up.

Getting Started with Newspapers Alive

Before I get into the details, let me take a moment to explain how I discovered the site, as well as what prompted me to get started. I was referred to Newspapers Alive by a fellow online marketer that I have been friends with for quite some time. Since we sell in completely different niches, we are quick to share solid tips and programs with one another when we come across them. He raved about NPA, but I honestly wasn’t sold. I’ve believed that newspapers are a dying breed, and that spending money to advertise in them would be a waste. My friend said that he felt the same way, and in order to convince me, gave me his login details so that I could have a look inside the member’s area. It’s what I saw in there that sold me, and it’s what I am going to reveal to all of you.

The first thing that you need to do is decide which membership package best suits your needs and budget. There are 3 to choose from, each with a different price point and expected number of daily visitors. Details of the packages are as follows:

Package 1 – $60/mo. – 200-250 visitors per day
Package 2 – $125/mo. – 450-550 visitors per day
Package 3 – $399/mo. – 1,800 – 2,200 visitors per day

Each of the packages are only available in limited quantities, which helps ensure that everyone gets the visitors they are promised, so you may need to keep checking in of the package you want is currently sold out.

There were a couple of each still available when I decided to sign up, but I played it safe by opting for Package 1. It fit within my advertising budget, and also gave me enough daily visitors for me to fairly test out how well the program worked. The next step for me was to sign in and get to the member’s area, which I had already previewed thanks to my friend. I am now going to share that information with you guys.

What’s Inside the Members Area?

I am going to tell you as much as possible about the program and the member’s area in the limited space that I have here, but for a more in-depth breakdown, I really recommend that you watch the video that is uploaded in your dashboard. It will tell you everything that you need to know about NPA, and should answer any questions that you have about getting started.

What you will learn there, before getting to the nuts and bolts of setting up your fist campaign, is how the whole program works in the first place. The video goes into much more detail, but I’ll give you the abridged version. Newspaper Alive have created no less than 128 domains names, all of which are relevant to the home business niche. These ads are then blasted out to newspapers all across the country, and when a reader enters the URL they see in the ad, they are taken to one of the sites listed by an NPA member. It’s really quite simple how it all works, and that is what makes it so brilliant.

Once you have watched the video, which I recommend doing a couple of times so that you don’t miss anything, it’s time to go to work, which involves making some decisions. The first thing that you are going to do is select the regions where you would like your ad to run. There are 10 different zones to choose from, all of which are displayed on an easy to read map of the US displayed in the member’s area. This is great if you feel that the offer you are trying to sell will be more appealing to people in a specific part of the country. You can select three different regions when you start your campaign, and can change them out at any time. I’ll get into more detail about that later in this piece.

Once you have your regions selected, the next step is to set up an offer page that outlines the details of what it is you are trying to sell. Setting up the page is incredibly easy, and is done via a WYSIWYG layout where you can get creative with texts and images. The beauty here is that it’s easy to set up even if you aren’t particularly savvy with these types of things. You can literally have your offer page set-up and rolled out in a matter of minutes. You can preview how your page will look before hitting “Save” and sending your ad out into the regions you selected.

Once you have done that, your hard work, if we can really call it that, is over. All you need to do now is see how your offer page is performing, which is done by clicking on the “Track Campaign” link on the left-hand side of the dashboard page. You will see your numbers displayed as a graph, as well as a in a table form, with the number of offer page visits from each of your zones clearly shown and easy to read. Seeing these numbers comes in really handy, as you very quickly get an idea of how well each of your chosen zones is performing. If you think that one or more of the zones is not performing as well as you had hoped, you can change them out for a different one. These graphs also help you see that you are actually getting the number of visitors you were promised as per the details of your package. It’s also a good idea to use a link to your actual page that can be tracked, as you can then see how many people clicked through after they arrived at your offer page.

A Quick Note About Referrals

While the vast majority of you who choose to sign up for NPA will be doing so to promote a product or affiliate page, it is worth mentioning that you can also make money by referring others to the program. You are given a unique affiliate link to promote, and the great thing here is that your link will be used as your offer page until you get something else set up. There is an area on the member’s page where you can get all the details about the NPA affiliate program, as well as a link that will show you how well you are performing, and how much you have earned in commissions. Once you hit $30 in commissions, you can cash-out, using several different payment options.

Also, when you refer three active NPA members, you will receive bonus traffic from within Canada…roughly 100-150 extra visitors per day from our friends in the north.

Getting started is a 4-step process that begins with signing up and ends with checking your stats on a regular basis. It really shouldn’t take you any longer than a half hour to get rolling, although you may want to spend a little extra time setting up your offer page to look just right. I’m a little picky with the details, so I did take a little longer to get my page looking just right. The next thing for me was sitting back and waiting to see if I had made the right decisions in choosing my zones. I got the answer to that pretty quickly.

My Experience with Newspapers Alive

Over the years, I have promoted several different products, the majority of which I have picked from Clickbank. For the most part, I have stuck with the health and fitness products, as these are items that are always in demand. What I try to do is look for products that give the user the opportunity to sign up to a member’s site after they have downloaded and read the information they purchased on Clickbank. I prefer these, because you get the affiliate earnings for the initial download, and then monthly commissions for as long as those people continue to stay with the program. It was one of these types of products that I chose for my first campaign on NPA.

As I mentioned earlier, I took a little extra time to set up my offer page, but before I got to that, I had to decide which regions would be the best for my offer. Since the product that I had chosen was one aimed at folks looking to lose weight, I decided to try and do a little research before setting my regions. I did a Google search to find out which states had the highest percentage of obese residents, and I then based my picks on that information. I also decided to add the region that included California, as I know that looks are important to many people out in that state.

When I completed my offer page, I used bit.ly to create a shorter link to my Clickbank product page, which would also help me track how many people clicked through. I also added my email address to the offer page so that people could contact me directly if they had any questions about the product or the membership upgrade that comes with it.

Through the first week, the California region proved to be a bit of a bust. I was getting a lot of visitors, but not much in the way of click-throughs. The other two regions performed really well, though, and I generated a couple of product sales, as well as a few people who contacted me looking for more info. Things really picked up when I added a new region based on my research. By the end of my first month, I had 12 sales and 1 upgrade, as well as a promise from 1 more person to upgrade once they got finished with the e-book. I was well in profit, and decided to let my membership to NPA carry over for another month, which is where I am at right now.

Conclusion

I am honestly delighted with my first month at Newspapers Alive, as well as how easy it is to use. After testing it thoroughly during this time I am completely ready to swing from the rafters and declare it to be brilliant. I am also VERY optimistic, as my second month has started in much the same vein as my first. I am considering trying another product, just to see if the positive results continue. I will try to keep you all updated on my progress, and I am here to answer and questions about NPA that you guys may have.
